This 8" x 8" porcelain vase has been wheel thrown, carved/etched, painted with terra sigillata, a very fine colored clay, and burnished. After firing, each piece is decorated with horse hair. Characteristic of traditional American Southwest Pottery with horse hair, the piece is decorative only. The clay remains porous and is not suitable for holding water.
