Each piece has been seasoned by boiling water in them on the stovetop to check for any leaks and test the integrity. The first time you use it, seal it by cooking a light broth of salted water, carrots, rice, or potatoes... this further seals the clay, and makes food taste good.
These pots are intended to be used on stove tops (electric, gas or wood) or in the oven. The mica absorbs the thermal shock of being placed on a hot cooking surface. After cooking, hand wash the pot with hot water using a cloth or sponge; nothing too abrasive. Avoid allowing water to sit in the pot for extended periods of time.
